Here's the top 10 of Google's Most Useful Internet Tools

1 - Gmail, Google Mail.

For me, this is the best email client ever. The interface is quick and reactive and there are many interesting features. The spam filter is really powerful, i have no more spams since i’ve switched to GMail a long time ago. The storage capacity (~7.4 Go) is also totally enough. Moreover, this client is totally integrated with the other tools of the Google network (Documents, Buzz, Agenda, …). With the plugins, you can also add several others features to GMail including integrating with other tools like RememberTheMilk by example.

The included chat is also a great functionality. I use it everyday.

No more spam with : Google Mail
2 - Google Chrome

Certainly the most efficient browser. The performances of this browser are simply amazing.

There are perhaps less plugins now that in Firefox, but it’s a lot more lighter than the others browsers. The tab system is really well done. If a site crashes, you can simply close the tabs ands that’s fine. You can also move a tab to an other window with drag&drop facilities.

In the last months, the number of modules tend to grow quickly and provides the more useful plugins that we could have used in other browsers before switching to Chrome. And Google Chrome support without plugins the synchronization of bookmarks and execution of GreaseMonkey scripts.

And last but not least, this is the most simplistic (not pejorative at all) browser i use and really easy and comfortable to use.

Try it and why not like it : Google Chrome
3 - Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a really great web analytics solution. This is the most used solution. This tool is free for website with less than 5 million page views by month or for those who have an AdWords account. The interface is really simple to use but powerful. All the stats are displayed with number metrics and graphs. And, really important, the traffic analyzer is powerful and light. You can even use an asynchronous JavaScript code to produce less overhead on the page load time.

You can create scheduled reports and email it at a specific time rate. You can also analyze only a fragment of the traffic and follow accomplishments of objectives. You can also use Google Analytics from other languages like PHP.

For me, as a webmaster, this tool is completely essential and I cannot live without it (exaggerate, but I use it everyday).

If you try it, you will not regret : Google Analytics

10 of the World's Best Special Forces/Elite Units

Posted on 20:22 by goolhgu
world special forces

Previously, We already posted 10 of World's Best Military Units/Arm Forces and it gives me an idea to write a special top 10 list about the world's best special forces.

Special forces, or Special Operations forces are terms used to describe elite military tactical teams trained to perform high-risk dangerous missions that conventional units cannot perform. Special Forces soldiers need to be physically and mentally robust and have the confidence, courage, and skill to operate individually or in small teams, often in isolation and in a hostile environment. They are high value assets, commanded at the strategic level that deliver effects disproportionately to their size.

Here's our Top 10 of the World's Best Special Forces.

10 - Spetsnaz Russia
Spetsnaz russia

Whereas most of the training regimens of militaries around the world are designed to teach, Russia’s Special Purpose Regiments, equivalent to the U. S. Green Berets, endure punishment daily throughout their training. They may quit anytime they want. The Spetsnaz want only the best, pain-hardened, battle-loving killers.

They spar with the express goal of injuring each other, breaking ribs, fingers, vertebrae, healing only long enough to get back on their feet and complete the training. They are typically deployed for reconnaissance or house-to-house close quarters combat, but are also employed as extremely formidable bodyguards for high-ranking politicians.

They claim that they are not taught to ignore pain, since that is impossible. They are instead taught to enjoy it.
9 - French Naval Commandos France
French Naval Commandos

They call themselves “berets verts,” or “green berets,” and consist of 6 units: Hubert, Trepel, de Montfort, de Penfentenyo, Jaubert, and Kieffer. Each unit is trained for special tasks, whether combat diving, close quarters sea combat, exfiltration, canine units, or long range fire support, including snipers and missile launchers. They were established much at the behest of Jacques-Yves Cousteau, who was a naval officer in WWII.
8 - MARSOC U.S.

Currently, only men are allowed to try out for the U. S. Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command. It’s primary missions are typically special reconnaissance, direct action, and internal defense within foreign nations.

Their training regimen is comprised of 4 phases, increasing in strenuousness. Phase 1 is SERE training, survival, evasion, resistance, escape. They are trained to make fire by friction, fire by mirrors, even fire by ice, depending on the location to which they are deployed. You mold the ice with the heat of your hands into the shape of a lens, which works just like a magnifying glass.

Of course, they take matches and Zippos with them. After this, they begin physical fitness training, and hand-to-hand combat, practicing a hybrid of the most functional martial arts: Jeet Kune Do, Wing Chun, Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, even Pankration. Then, Sayoc Kali, which is Filipino knife fighting.

7 - MI-6 UK
MI-6 UK

The closest thing to James Bond can be found in the personnel of the UK’s Secret Intelligence Service, or Security Service, section 6. It works in close partnership with section 5 (MI-5), the latter which is more of a pure spy agency, dedicated to counter-intelligence and counter-espionage.

MI-6, however, is the unit which deploys its agents all over the world to detect international intelligence threats and “neutralize” them before they become truly dangerous. Their headquarters is at Vauxhall Cross, London, and they will be quick to tell you there that there is no James Bond among them, and that their assignments and missions are quite boring.

They do, however, have an agent very similar to “Q,” who is in charge of all equipment and weaponry deployed for each operation. They also have indoor firing ranges, dojos, and a gym.
6 - Army Rangers U.S.
Army Rangers

After basic Army training, voluntary enlistment into the 75th Ranger Regiment will train the recruit for the HALO parachute jump, SERE, languages, elite combatives expert, mountain warfare, combat diving, in addition to all the weapons qualification training.

After nine weeks of this, they enroll in Advanced Individual Training, to become masters of their chosen fields, then immediately enroll in the Army Airborne School, then in Ranger Indoctrination or Orientation Programs.

By the time they’ve graduated, they’re so well trained that members have reported waking up screaming from nightmares about Ranger school to be relieved that they are only in Vietnam.

But then, they lose a few points for an incident a Ranger told me about: he was the captain of a tank regiment on maneuvers in the Amazon jungle. Just an exercise, but because of the sweltering heat, they had to open their tank hatches. This captain, who shall remain nameless, heard a thump behind him, and turned to see a Goliath Bird-eating Spider crawling toward him, raising its front legs and hissing.

He admits to screaming like a girl, knifing the tarantula, jumping out of the tank and running off into the jungle for a mile and a half. His buddies still rib him about it.
5 - United States Army Green Berets U.S.

That’s their nickname. Technically they are the U. S. Army Special Forces, as opposed to the special forces of other countries, many of which also wear green berets.

Typically, the Green Berets are trained to administer “unconventional warfare,” which entails infiltrating a hostile area in anticipation of a large-scale military engagement, and training the local resistance populations to fight back against the enemy. This was done in South Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, among others.

In the event that there is no local resistance to the enemy, the Green Berets infiltrate and soften up the enemy by “neutralizing” as many of its officers as possible. This usually involved sniping and throat cutting.

Training is very extensive and begins with the Army’s assessment of the recruit’s possession of 12 attributes: intelligence, physical fitness, motivation, trustworthiness, accountability, maturity, stability, judgment, decisiveness, teamwork, influence, and communications. 40% of applicants satisfy the Army that they have these attributes.

Final training consists of various endurance courses, carrying heavy backpacks over 40 miles of rugged terrain, with nothing but a live chicken and a knife, day and night. If the recruit can make a fire, he can eat the chicken cooked. He is not given matches or a lighter. He is allowed only a compass and his own hand-drawn map, completed from earlier reconnaissance courses.
4 - The Delta Force U.S.

The only official United States counter-terrorism unit, dedicated to hostage rescues, counter-insurgency, and general counter-terrorism. They’re full name is 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta, managed by the Army. Selection is done according to a physical fitness test: situps, pushups, followed by a 3-mile run, in an undisclosed time limit.

Then an all-night, 18-mile hike over mountainous terrain with a 35 lb backpack and a compass, no map. This finally culminated with a 40-mile hike with a 45 lb backpack, in a shorter time limit.

Then psychologists conduct a grueling battery of mental exams on the recruit to try to break him into confusion. If he passes this, he actually gets to begin Delta Force training, for 6 months. Firearms, heavy weaponry, elite hand-to-hand training.
3 - Shayetet 13 Israel

The name means “Flotilla 13,” and their official motto is the same as the Israeli military: “Never Again,” in reference to the Holocaust. Their unofficial motto, as they like to joke, is “When the going gets tough, the Jews get pissed.”

They are 1 of the 3 most elite Israeli special forces units, but Shayetet 13 is the unit most similar to the Delta Force. They specialize in hostage rescue and counter-terrorism, and because they live so close to a host of nations that seem bent on eradicating them, they are at all times ready in an instant to travel abroad and kill. They are very secretive, but of their missions publicized, the most notable include Operation Spring of Youth, in which they hunted down members of Black September in Beirut Lebanon and killed them, in revenge for the 1972 Munich massacre.

Apart from their firearms and heavy weapons training, they train extensively in Krav Maga, the national martial art of Israel, to which they endearingly refer as “Jew-jitsu.” It’s philosophy is based on the principle that in a real street fight no quarter will be asked or given. Fight to kill. Groin strikes are quite prevalent.
2 - Navy SEALs U.S.

You might think there are a lot of them, given the number of action movies dedicated to the plot device of an invincible warrior, but there are only about 2,000 of them. They are the Unites States’s most elite special warfare combatants. They are trained in all the fields in which the other U. S. special forces are trained, but to an even higher degree of competency.

SEAL training lasts over a year, and requires an age of between 17 and 28 years, male, incorrect vision no worse than 20/200 in either eye, and correctable to 20/20, and the physical screening test, which is beyond belief.

500 yd (460 m) swim using breast or combat sidestroke in under 12:30 with a competitive time of under 10:30.

At least 42 push-ups in 2 minutes with a competitive count of 79 or more.

At least 50 sit-ups in 2 minutes with a competitive count of 79 or more.

At least 6 pull-ups from a dead hang (no time limit) with a competitive count of 11 or more.

Run 1.5 mi (2.4 km) in boots and trousers in under 11:30 with a competitive time of 10:20 or less.

Then training begins. Physical conditioning, diving, land warfare, for 24 weeks, then 26 more weeks of SEAL qualification training. Then specialization in whatever fields a SEAL team needs expertise in: anything from sniper to language specialist, rope climbing, diving, jumpmaster, surreptitious entry, dynamic entry (door breacher), etc.
1 - British SAS UK

The Special Air Service is trained to perform equally well in all the fields listed for the SEALs, but is also trained by MI-5 and MI-6 for in-depth counter-espionage, more so than the SEALs. Physical competency must be of equal stature to the SEALs, to the degree that both special forces work closely together when necessary (Iraq and Afghanistan) and have good camaraderie.

They wear a tan beret, just as the U. S. Army Rangers, and both the SAS and SEALs are trained in knife fighting by experts in Apache Indian knife techniques, as well as Sayoc Kali, Krav Maga, Jeet Kune Do, and for the last 3 years or so, the Keysi Fighting Method, made famous by the Chris Nolan “Batman” films.

They have the distinction of being the model on which almost all national commando units are based today, including every other entry on this list.

10 of the Most Unusual Last Wills & Testaments of the Famous

Posted on 13:25 by goolhgu
A “last will and testament,” or simply a “will,” is “an act whereby a person is permitted, with the formalities prescribed by law, to control to a certain degree the disposition of his estate”. It is a document whereby a person, called the “testator,” disposes of his/her properties or “estate,” to take effect upon his/her death.

While most people create Wills and Testaments to put their final and financial affairs in order, there have been these certain other people in the world who have used these means to make a political point or program line; or well, just to make for a good old hearty laugh!

Here's the Top 10 of the Most Unusual Last Wills And Testaments

1- Virgil Died in 10 B.C

Last Wish: Burn the Aeneid

The great Roman poet, Virgil is known for his Aeneid, once famous as the National Poem of Rome. Before his death, Virgil had completed only 12 books as opposed to the 24 of the epic poems by Homer.

Since his work was left incomplete, he had ordered for it to be destroyed by fire after his death. However, when his friends found out about this strange bout of destructive death wish, they convinced him to remove this particular request from his will.

He consented and the poem was published to great acclaim. I am sure we all have something to be grateful for as far as Virgil’s tenacious friends are concerned.
2 - William Shakespeare Died in 1616

Last Wish: That his wife receive his ‘Second best bed.’

This strange wish made by Shakespeare caused much speculation among people about his relationship with his wife Anne Hathaway. Not only it was a strange request, it was put on the document as an after thought. In those times, leaving a bed to someone though was not an unusual thing as a good quality bed sans vermin or fleas was a highly prized and a very expensive thing.

However, adding fuel to the debate was the epitaph that Shakespeare left on his grave: ‘Blest be the man that spares these stones, /And cursed by he that moves my bones.’ While some conjecture that Shakespeare meant to scare off Grave Robbers, the wordings however were taken so seriously that when his wife died seven years later, her body was allowed to be placed with his.
3 - Charles Dickens Died in 1870

Last Wish: That mourners ‘who attend my funeral wear no scarf, cloak, black bow, long hatband, or other such revolting absurdity.’

Along with the above, Dickens also wrote that he was not to have a public funeral and the place and time of his funeral was not be made public. He also requested for an inexpensive funeral with only three plain ‘mourning coaches.’

Dickens’s request however were ignored – and on a grand scale! He was honored by a full funeral cortege, with all members present in full funeral regalia. His funeral aptly put was a national event.

The man who was used to getting whatever he wanted in life, in a sense died wanting in that manner.
4 - George Bernard Shaw Died in 1950

Last Wish: He ordered no religious service and that his tombstone not ‘take the form of a cross or any other instrument of torture or symbol of blood sacrifice.’

George Bernard Shaw was not so soft on religion and his will included a section that lent his support to ‘Darwin’s millennial saga of creation’ over the Bibles’ ‘six day synopsis’. GB Shaw had always been deeply fascinated with the idea of a reformed English spelling. He created a 40 letter phonetic alphabet to make spelling much simpler.

As a part of his will, he left a sizable portion of his estate to promote the new alphabet. This was however overruled by the court as it was ‘not nearly possible’ and the money was distributed to three organizations: The British Museum, The National Gallery of Ireland and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
5 - Benjamin Franklin Died in 1790

Last Wish: That in a democracy, his daughter not engage in ‘the expensive, vain and useless pastime of wearing jewels.’

Benjamin Franklin was one of most deeply admired men the New World as well as the Western World in the late 18th century.

The reason though for this odd request was that as former ambassador to France, Franklin was given the portrait of King Louis XVI in a frame that was studded in 408 diamonds. He left this picture and frame to his daughter Sarah and included the strange last wish in his will to dissuade her from removing the diamonds from the frame to get jewelry made for her.
6 - John B Kelly Died in 1960

Last Wish: That the clothing bills of his daughter, Princess Grace, not bankrupt the Principality of Monaco.

Kelly was a multimillionaire contractor who was also a triple Olympic Gold Medal Winner. His daughter/actress Grace Kelly was married into the Royal Family of Monaco. His will though was his attempt at a last laugh, a god humored expense at the cost of his family.

Some really amusing sections of his will are:

(To my son John) all my personal belongings, such as trophies, rings, jewelry, watches, clothing and athletic equipment, except the ties, shirts, sweaters and socks, as it seems unnecessary to give him something of which he has already taken possession.

He however left nothing to his Son in Law, Prince Rainer of Monaco, stating:

I don’t want to give the impression that I am against sons-in-law. If they are the right type, they will provide for themselves and their families, and what I am able to give my daughters will help pay the dress shop bills, which, if they continue as they started out, under the able tutelage of their mother, will be quite considerable.
7 - Harry Houdini Died in 1926

Last Wish: That his wife hold an annual séance so that he could reveal himself to her.

Owing to his mother’s death, in his later life, Houdini had become very interested in spiritualism as he felt the impact of the great loss of her death. After tying unsuccessfully for many years to communicate with her through spiritualists, he gave up and decided that the whole thing was hogwash.

However, in order to prove it, Houdini left his wife with a secret note with 10 words randomly selected that he would communicate to her after his death. For as long as
10 years his wife held a séance on Halloween waiting for him to utter through random words to her, Houdini never showed up.
8 - Napoleon Bonaparte Died in 1821

Last Wish: That his head be shaved and that his hair be divided amongst his friends.

In a stranger twist to a strange tale, recent analysis revealed that some of the hair that was kept by his friends contained large amounts of arsenic.

His symptoms prior to his death, like vomiting dried blood are very consistent with arsenic poisoning. There is speculation that the walls of his room contained arsenic (not very uncommon at that time), and that it was his environment that killed him. However, there are others who believe that he was slowly poisoned by the English. Infact, due to his stomach cancer, his doctor was prescribing him another kind of poison which contributed to his final demise.
9 - William Hearst Died in 1951

Last Wish: That anyone who could prove ‘that he or she is a child of mine (receive) a sum of one dollar. I hereby declare that any such asserted claim (…) would be utterly false’.

Hearst was an American newspaper magnate and a leading newspaper publisher. He was the son of a self made millionaire, George Hearst. However, he found out that his father received a northern California newspaper, The San Francisco Examiner as payment for a gambling debt. He asked his father to give him the paper to run and he eventually built a multimillion dollar empire out of it.

Hearst was also the grandfather of Patty Hearst; the heiress was known to suffer from Stockholm syndrome.
10 - John Bowman Died in 1891

Last Wish: For dinner to be prepared every night after his death, well, for incase if he came back to life… then what?

Bowman’s wife and two daughters had died before him and he had somehow become convinced that his entire family would be reincarnated together. Driven by this weird belief, he set up a trust worth $50,000 to pay servants to keep up the housework in his 21 room mansion.

He also requested that a daily meal be prepared in case if the family reincarnated and returned hungry! His wish was honored until his trust ran out of funds in 1950.

10 of the World's Most Beautiful Waterfalls

Posted on 05:35 by goolhgu

There are many, many waterfalls in the world. After all, the vast majority of our planet is covered in water. When land interrupts the flow of water across the landscape, it is here that waterfalls can form.

Interestingly enough there is no standard definition of a waterfall in the modern lexicon. By this we mean there is nothing to define what makes up a waterfall, how to measure a waterfall, and even whether or not a waterfall needs to exist the entire year round. To the objective tourist these debated ideas are mere semantics compared to standing in plain view of the water thundering over high cliff faces with enough force to pound the local geography into new shapes and forms. Many waterfalls are thought to be inspiration for many functional and decorative garden fountains.

According to world-of-waterfalls.com and I totally agree ,it's not easy to put together a Top 10 Best Waterfalls List because it's completely subjective and limited to each person's experience with the falls being named.

This is by no means a permanent list and it's sure to change as we continue to collect more falls from around the world. So without further adieu, here they are in reverse order...

Here's Top 10 of the World's Most Beautiful Waterfalls

10 - SUTHERLAND FALLS [Fiordland, New Zealand]

In a country that holds a special place in our hearts, this gorgeous 580m waterfall is easily New Zealand's most spectacular waterfall and makes our list. Given its remote location deep in the wild and beautiful Fiordland National Park (also a World Heritage Area), it's one of many highlights of the Milford Track - said to be one of the finest walks in the world.

9 - DETTIFOSS [Jökulsárgljúfur, Iceland]

It is Europe's most powerfull waterfall sending glacial meltwaters over its 44m precipice unchecked at a flow of around 500 cubic meters per second. It epitomizes the wild and raw Icelandic Nature and is a favorite amongst Icelandic Nature lovers. Its position at the head of the impressive Jökulsárgljúfur (the Icelandic version of the Grand Canyon) surrounded by three other major waterfalls on the same river makes it a no-brainer for this to make our Top 10 Waterfalls List.

8 - GULLFOSS [Haukadalur, Iceland]

One of the more unique waterfalls you'll ever see in the world, this wild and wide waterfall tumbling on the Hvítá River in two tiers at 90 degree angles to each other is one of Iceland's iconic natural attractions. Part of the Golden Circle of Iceland's main attractions in the Southwest, this is a must on anyone's itinerary. In addition to the falls' unique shape, you can see rainbows arcing over the falls when your timing's right and the weather cooperates.

7 - KAIETEUR FALLS [Potaro River, Guyana]

Said to be one of the tallest single-drop waterfalls in the world, this rectangular-shaped monster (said to be 741ft tall 370ft wide) sits atop the ancient Guyana Shield amidst some of the most pristine rainforest left on earth! Indeed a visit to this world wonder can yield rare wildlife settings as well as the reassurance that there are still places on the planet where nature is still allowed to thrive. Thus, Julie and I had to make room for this waterfall on our Top 10 List!

6 - YOSEMITE FALLS [California, USA]

Even though this waterfall doesn't flow year round, it does flow for a good part of the year and it's one of the tallest in the world at 2425ft. It's the crown jewel of attractions in the incomparable Yosemite Valley and it's easily seen from a multitude of viewpoints and trails. So given its ease of access, scenery, and sheer size, this waterfall makes our Top 10 Waterfalls List.

5 - ANGEL FALLS (SALTO ÁNGEL) [Canaima, Venezuela]

Plunging uninterrupted for 807m (with total drop of 979m) from a mystical tabletop mountain (tepuy) deep in a Venezuelan equatorial rainforest, it is widely acknowledged as the tallest permanent waterfall in the world. Its existence defies logic as its source is nothing but the soggy cloud forest on the plateau of the tepuy. No doubt about it, there's nothing like this waterfall and the adventure to even get to this so-called Lost World (Mundo Perdido) for a chance to see this world wonder is sure to leave you with a lasting impression.

4 - PLITVICE WATERFALLS [Northern Dalmatia, Croatia]

When it comes to the overall waterfalling experience, it's hard to beat this world famous attraction. While the rest of the waterfalls on our Top 10 List are primarily singular waterfall attractions, this one is really a network of countless waterfalls (some of which are impressive enough to stand out on their own). The waterfalls themselves segregate the many clear and colorful lakes that bring life to this lush and protected ecosystem. Plus, you have boardwalks that take you under, over, and around almost all of the notable waterfalls for some of the most intimate waterfalling experiences to be had. Add it all up, putting these waterfalls on this list was an absolute no-brainer as far as Julie and I were concerned.

3 - NIAGARA FALLS [Ontario, Canada/New York, USA]

Easily the most famous waterfall in North America, this powerful waterfall also ranks as the biggest one by volume with a whopping average of about 750,000 gallons per second (2.8 million Liters per second)! In addition to its raw power, the falls is easily one of the easiest to access and view from all sorts of angles. While its surroundings are a bit less naturesque for many, it clearly makes the upper tier of our list of Top 10 Waterfalls.

2 - VICTORIA FALLS (MOSI-OA-TUNYA) [Livingstone, Zambia/Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe]

Easily deserving of the top spot on this list (though it finished a very close second), it's the largest singular waterfall in the world spanning a width of 1.7km, a height of 108m, and an average flow of 1 million liters per second! It's no wonder this "smoke that thunders" is considered one of the seven natural wonders of the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Indeed, it's got power, beauty, and it will make you humble and awestruck.

1 - IGUAZU FALLS (IGUASSU FALLS) [Puerto Iguazú, Argentina/Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil]

With its brink spanning a distance of an incredible 2km in its average flow of 1.3 million liters per second, this falls tops our list of favorites. The falls actually consists of some 275 individual waterfalls and cascades. Catwalks make it easy to get closeup and intimate views and the rainforest surroundings make the scenery feel right for a natural attraction such as this. Put it all together and Julie and I believe this falls is heads and shoulders above the rest (except Victoria Falls) that we've seen!
